Yesterday, the European Parliament in Strasbourg awarded Feo Aladag with the LUX prize for WHEN WE LEAVE. Helag Trüpel, Vice president of the culture committee of the European Parliament said:
„“WHEN WE LEAVE is a stirring drama about the entanglement in a Turkish family in Berlin, about the contradiction between the emancipated demand of the main character to live an autonomous life and the sense of honour of her family of origin. The film with its high emotional density is a clear plea for more tolerance and for the value of an individual in contradiction to traditional paternalistic and patriarchal violence.”
